Know when Zelle® is a good payment option and when another payment method is better.
Zelle is available right from our Mobile App or online through Virtual Branch to bring your fast, safe and easy way to send and receive money with family, friends and other people you trust. No need to download anything new to start sending and receiving money!
How does Zelle® work?
When you enroll with Zelle® through the CBI FCU Mobile app, then your name, the name of your bank/credit union, and the email address or U.S. mobile number you enrolled is shared with Zelle® (no sensitive account details are shared – those stay only with CBI FCU). When someone sends money to your enrolled email address or U.S. mobile phone number, Zelle® looks up the email address or mobile number in its “directory” and notifies CBI Federal Credit Union of the incoming payment. CBI FCU then directs the payment into your CBI FCU account, all while keeping your sensitive account details private.
Zelle® can be used to pay many important people in your life, for so many different reasons! Use Zelle® to pay your roommate back for takeout or split the cost of necessities with a neighbor. However, if you aren't sure you will get what you paid for (for example, items bought from an online bidding or sales site), or you don't know and trust the person you're paying, we recommend you choose a different payment option. Neither Zelle® nor CBI FCU offers a protection program for authorized payments made with Zelle®.
As a reminder, CBI FCU will never ask you to send or receive money via Zelle®, or call, text, or email you and ask for your passcode, account number, or Social Security number. Before you enroll, we recommend watching our video which shares some safety tips from Zelle®.
